Math is one of the subjects that elementary school teachers spend the most time teaching. The World Almanac® for Kids Elementary now has a new topic area—Math: Addition—to help young learners practice their math skills and tackle addition concepts from different, fun angles. Each section includes four-color images and diagrams and is supplemented with Fun Facts articles on light, entertaining topics such as “Monkey Mathematicians”; editorially selected videos; and games and puzzles that reinforce lesson concepts.
Sections of the new Math: Addition topic area include:

- Adding within 20, including “Models for Adding within 20,” “Strategies for Adding within 20,” and “Addition with Three Addends”
- Adding within 100, covering “Models for Adding within 100,” “Strategies for Adding within 100,” and “Algorithms for Numbers within 100”
- Adding Larger Numbers, including “Models for Adding Larger Numbers,” “Strategies for Adding Larger Numbers,” and “Algorithms for Larger Numbers”
- Properties of Addition, covering “Identity Property of Addition,” “Commutative Property of Addition,” and “Associative Property of Addition”
This new topic area joins three other math-focused topic areas you can find in The World Almanac® for Kids Elementary: Math: Geometry, Math: Measurement, and Math: Time and Money.
